The Wellington Management Foundation accepts applications from organizations and programs that coincide with its mission and grantmaking guidelines. Please read the mission and guidelines with care to evaluate whether your program is a clear fit with the Foundation’s funding priorities.
Grant applicants will only be considered for participation in the Foundation’s grant review process if they have submitted a letter of inquiry. This requirement applies to all new and returning applicants. This letter should not exceed two pages and should include the following:
Organizations may submit a letter of inquiry expressing interest in applying for a multi-year grant and outlining a purpose and a plan for it. Multi-year grant proposals are by invitation only to organizations that have previously received funding and that present a philanthropic investment opportunity the social return of which is expected to be greater with foreknowledge of a three-year stream of funding than it would have been without such knowledge. Consideration for multi-year grants will also be given to applicants that need to develop a certain revenue flow in order to implement a significant new undertaking. Applicants not invited to submit full proposals for a multi-year grant may still be invited to submit a full proposal for a single-year grant or they may be denied at the LOI stage.
Letters of inquiry for the 2010/2011 grant cycle will be accepted at any time but must be received by April 15, 2010 for consideration in 2010. Please email letters of inquiry to Wellington Management Foundation.
Organizations that have submitted letters of inquiry will be prescreened by the Foundation and those that meet its mission and guidelines will be invited to fill out a complete grant application. The application will become available in the late spring and the deadline for submitting a grant application will be July 15, 2010.
Please read the section describing our grantmaking process. You may contact Brianna Lloyd at Wellington Management Foundation or (617) 289-3958 if you have any questions about the Foundation’s application process.
