The key to succeeding is a desire to learn. Every day I participate in conversations with our experienced investment professionals. They talk about stocks and share their insights — and I ask questions. There are so many views here; it's literally a marketplace of ideas. And though it can be intimidating when you're young to approach experienced, tremendously busy people, at Wellington Management, everyone is willing to help.
My manager devotes time to helping me build my knowledge. I know that the more I learn, the more valuable I will be to him and to the firm. I think of these first few years of my career as my "grace period" — my chance to ask questions, hone skills and gain knowledge. And I am working hard to make the most of it.
