Coming right out of business school, I knew equity research would be my career. Wellington Management is one of the few investment firms I found with the structure in place for a long-term career in research. Analysts here are highly regarded; we have access to tremendous resources, and we put our ideas to work directly as portfolio managers in a number of portfolios. Some of the most senior professionals here are career analysts who've covered the same industry for decades.
At Wellington Management, the entrepreneurial culture allows me to develop my own methods for valuing stocks and generating models. Even though this is a large company, it can feel small and personal. I am able to discuss, and often debate, my ideas directly with portfolio managers and others in a collegial, comfortable environment.
